Weingut Allesverloren Wine Estate
About 100 km northeast of Cape Town, along the Swartland Wine Route you will find the Allesverloren Winery.
As the oldest winery in the Swartland Region, Allesverloren is famous for its distinctive red wines. The history of the estate dates back to the end of the 17th century. In 1704, after a long journey, the settlers of that time found the manor house burnt down to the walls on their return, and the farm in a complete ruin. This is the sad origin of the name "Allesverloren".
The winery today, is owned by winemaker Danie Malan, who is the fifth generation of the family to produce wines on Allesverloren. Danie's pride and joy are his red wines, whose success he modestly attributes to the unique terroir of the Swartland. His Allesverloren Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon have been awarded numerous prizes and Danies Tinta Barocca and his Allesverloren Touriga Nacional made from Portuguese grape varieties are internationally celebrated as top wines.
