Excellent wines from Mundus Vini

History and background

The annual MUNDUS VINI International Wine Awards were held for the first time in 2001. At its debut, 2,235 participants from all the main wine-growing regions of the world were already registered. The participation record of 6000 registered entries in 2011 clearly shows the great importance that this competition has now acquired in Germany. The aim of the competition is to promote the quality and marketing of the participating wines. The awards provide a forum for producers and winemakers, importers and consumers, which first of all enables a direct comparison of wines and thus serves as a valuable aid in orientation and decision-making when purchasing wine. In addition, a large audience is reached. While the competition serves consumers as a helpful orientation aid, producers receive due recognition for their hard work here. Thus, they can measure their standards and performance on an international level, and the awards won allow prestigious labeling of successful products for effective marketing..

The evaluation system

The jury, which judges and evaluates the participating wines, is composed of international oenologists, wine analysts, specialized retailers, sommeliers, specialized journalists and buyers from the most important retailers. The ratings are made according to the international 100-point scale. So far, no wine has reached the coveted 100 points, but every year there are a number of " candidates" that come very close to this dream result and are duly honored and recognized with a double gold medal..

MUNDUS VINI – Medals

GRAND GOLD – DOUBLE GOLD

The Grand Gold or Double Gold Medal is awarded only to the crème de la crème among the participating wines. For this purpose, a score of at least 95 points must be obtained from the international jury. However, only the wines with the highest score in this range will actually receive a double gold medal. This means that the score for a medal may well be more than 95 points.

GOLD

For a "Gold" award, a minimum score of 90 points must be achieved. However, only the wines with the highest score in this range actually receive a gold medal. This means that the score for a medal may well be more than 90 points.

SILVER

For a silver medal, there must be a score of at least 85 points. Again, only the wines with the highest score in this range will receive a silver medal. This means that the minimum number of points required may well be higher.

Every year, the MUNDUS VINI International Wine Award also presents additional awards and honors.
