Eine rote Rebsorte, die autochthon in Südtirol wächst und Rotweine und Rosés hervorbringt.

Die Rosés heißen Lagrein Rosato oder Lagrein Kretzer. Oft bringt er tiefrote, kompakte und geschmeidige Weine hervor. Besonders bekannt sind die Lagen um den Bozner Stadtteil Gries, die in den letzten 100 Jahren durch die Stadterweiterung stark geschwunden sind. In den letzten Jahren sind auch die Lagen in der östlichen Talebene Bozens (Bozner Boden und Rentsch) sowie bei Auer mit außerordentlich gutem Lagrein aufgefallen. Seit den 1990er-Jahren gibt es den Lagrein hauptsächlich als Lagrein Dunkel und als Riserva (zwei Jahre Lagerung mit meist zwölf Monaten Ausbau im Barrique-Eichenholzfass). Die Sorte wurde 2009 in Südtirol von 877 Betrieben auf 416 ha angebaut, 25.000 hl Wein wurden als Rotwein und 3.200 hl als Rosé (Kretzer) eingekellert.
