Without João Portugal Ramos, the history of the Alentejo would probably not be what it is today.

When João Portugal Ramos began his winemaking career, the Alentejo was largely unknown, a region that was just taking its first steps in the wine industry. No one has done as much for the development and reputation of the Alentejo as João Portugal Ramos. More recently, he has left his mark on the Douro, where he started the Duorum project together with the renowned winemaker José Maria Soares Franco. For over 20 years he worked as a winemaker for Sogrape, where he was involved in the development of the world-famous Barca Velha, among other things. They are two oenologists, who have made history in Portugal over the last decades, in the two regions Douro and Alentejo, which are known worldwide for two things, quality and personality. Duorum-Vinhos were created in 2007 and express João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco's desire to combine their expertise in a joint wine project in the Douro region.
