    mehrere Informationen
Meerlust Rubicon flows into the glass of dense violet colour with an ebony core and ensnares the nose with wonderfully exotic aromas of plums, sandalwood and perfume, still with a hint of vanilla. On the palate it is medium bodied with a forward dark fruit flavour of blackcurrant and mulberry, followed by a smooth tannic structure, refined with juicy fruit. The impression is one of suppleness and grace rather than of superior strength. This text has been automatically translated.

    Treatment in the cellar

The separately vinified wines matured for 9 months with 55% in new Nevers oak and 25% in second filled French oak barrels and the remaining 20% in older French oak barrels. The final blend is characteristic of the vintage: 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, the lowest in Rubicon's history, with 28% Merlot, which gives this grape variety an excellent expression in the unusual 2016 vintage. All the wines were then blended and matured as a cuvée for a further 16 months in the barrel before bottling.
