Niepoort Projectos

Niepoort Wines has been dedicated to port wine production for over 150 years. All knowledge is passed on from generation to generation. The Niepoort wineries in Vila Nova de Gaia are a magical place where port wines are allowed to mature at their own pace, where good old traditions are maintained and where barrels, bottles and glass balloons are accompanied with the greatest care to ensure that the end result is always a port wine of the highest quality. In addition to his outstanding Port Wines, Douro Wines and creations under the label Fabelhaft, Dirk van der Niepoort produces the "Projectos Wines" in collaboration with oenologists and winegrowers in various regions of Portugal, Spain, Austria, Germany and South Africa, which are offered under the label "Niepoort Projects".

These projects are experiments with very low production, in which Niepoort tries out different ways of creating interesting and unprecedented wine creations that are appreciated by wine lovers all over the world. The first creations, Chardonnay, Spätlese and Riesling. were rather unusual for the Douro region. Dirk van der Niepoort produces the red cuvée "Doda" from the Dão region together with Álvaro de Castro. Together with the Spanish producer Telmo Rodriguez, "Omlet" is created in the Douro region, while "Ultreia" is also created in the Douro region in collaboration with the Spanish producer Raul Perez. The wines Muhr van der Niepoort are created in collaboration with Dorli Muhr in Austria. Dirk van der Niepoort produces "Cape Charming" and "Cape Fortified" in South Africa in teamwork with Eben Sadie.
