Ist eine der bekanntesten roten spanischen Rebsorten. Diese sehr feine Traubensorte besticht durch ihr ausgeprägtes Bukett und ist der eigentliche Star der spanischen Sorten; im Verschnitt mit Cabernet Sauvignon entstehen äußerst interessante Weine. Die Rebe passt sich hervorragend den unterschiedlichen Bodenbeschaffenheit und Klimaverhältnissen an.
