Top class wine awards
Veritas Awards is South Africa's longest running and most prestigious wine competition, synonymous with excellence and first class. Through its organizers, the South African National Wine Show Association (SANWSA), the entire spectrum of the industry is represented here. The Veritas Awards give due recognition to wines of premium quality and the distinctive Veritas quality symbol serves as an authoritative quality guide for wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts. Gold and Double Gold awards are also of significant value to the wine industry as they give a prestigious image to both the wine, the winery and the winemaker themselves, thus contributing significantly to sales growth. Veritas Assessment System
The Veritas judging system is described as one of the most sophisticated and comprehensive in the industry. Jury members are drawn from across the wine industry and include oenologists, researchers, academics as well as trade representatives and are assembled in collaboration with respective working groups on relevant grape varieties. All panel members must hold a wine judging certificate from the University of Stellenbosch, a Cape Wine Masters Diploma or similar accreditation. The wines are tasted blind by panels, each composed of seven experts. After extensive discussion, the judges agree on a score according to the international 20-point scale. The integrity of the Veritas Awards is unquestioned and the entire judging process is overseen by independent auditors.
